FAST - Fusion energy power generation demonstration project - launched in Japan
KF is excited to announce its involvement in the Japan-based, groundbreaking fusion energy power generation demonstration project, “FAST,” or “Fusion by Advanced Superconducting Tokamak.”
We will contribute our engineering expertise to this project, with a particular focus on the fusion thermal cycle and fuel cycle systems, both essential components for efficient energy extraction and sustainability in fusion power generation.
KF America participated in the Canadian Science Policy Centre's conference
In November, Bibake Uppal, Head of KF America (KFA), had the honor of representing KF at the Canadian Science Policy Centre's conference on the panel, “The Multiple Hats of Nuclear.”
It was an ideal opportunity to discuss why KF partnered with CNL to establish Fusion Fuel Cycles Inc, a joint venture centered around the UNITY-2 project, which is being designed to demonstrate and deploy cutting-edge tritium fuel cycle technology for commercial fusion energy applications.
Behind the Fusion Scene with Italo Godoy-Morison
In this month's 'Behind the Fusion Scene', we spotlight Italo Godoy-Morison, an Engineer at KF.
Since joining KFUK as an intern, he has worked on the Self-Cooled Yuryo Lithium-Lead Advanced (SCYLLA©) blanket design and configuration, focusing on optimizing energy conversion efficiency.
Since becoming a full-time employee and relocating to Japan, he is now also contributing to our UNITY-1 project in Kyoto.
Discover his global journey across countries and his passion for advancing fusion energy!
KF took part in the first fusion exhibition in Japan!
KF engineers participated in Fusion Power World, the first fusion-focused exhibition in Japan, held as part of Smart Energy Week at INTEX Osaka from 19-21 November.
The 15,000 attendees at Smart Energy Week took a keen interest in fusion technology and explored the dedicated booths, a clear sign of the growing curiosity and enthusiasm for this cutting-edge field.
The event also featured a dynamic panel discussion in which our CEO, Satoshi Konishi, participated with representatives from Japan-based start-ups alongside Mr. Daisuke Kawakami from Japan’s Cabinet Office to share their diverse perspectives on the future of fusion. This event provided KF with the opportunity give an overview of our ongoing R&D and worldwide business development.
The venue buzzed with excitement, discovery, and dynamic interactions, underscoring Japan's increasing engagement with fusion technology.
KF Founders featured in entrepreneurial edition of Forbes JAPAN
Two of KF’s founders -- Satoshi Konishi and Takao Nagao -- have been featured in Forbes JAPAN January 2025 edition of Japan’s most influential entrepreneurs. For their tireless work to make fusion energy a reality, Forbes has recognized them as one of the top 5 entrepreneurs in Japan.
We are very excited and honored to once again be featured in the rankings of the top entrepreneurs in Japan by Forbes. We at KF are united in our passion and commitment to realizing our vision of developing the world’s first fusion power plant.
